Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 10 amβ8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Hello Kitty Cafe at (312) 242-3900; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, sanrio.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 414 reviews, which is a strong result for a cafe in Chicago and suggests consistent service.
Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Went with a bachelorette party to the afternoon tea party. Layla was our server, she was amazing. The other staff Maggie, Eliya, and Heejee were amazing as well. They all went above and beyond. They made a cake for the bride to be and made up a song and sang it to her. The food was delicious. The decor was adorable and I loved that the Photo Booth was free! It was definitely worth the price! I also loved the gift shop.

Everything is so cute here. Service was excellent. Line was a bit long but it was expected on Labor Day weekend. Overall itβs a must see and experience for Hello Kitty lovers.

First time in Chicago for myself and my 7 year old daughter. She loves hello kitty so we had to book an afternoon tea time experience. The atmosphere, though chaotic, was really unbelievable. Everything was beautiful and the details were exquisite. The bow room was exceptionally decorated! I enjoyed the tea and food offered, unfortunately tea time is not kid friendly. $100+ per person even for a 7 year old. The menu was delicious, but too elevated for a child, and too many sweet options. She ate nothing. Our server was attentive and thorough. The cream for my tea curdled and was never replaced with fresh. Our party of 5 played a game of "guess who" with our tea pots trying to figure out which was which. It was confusing. I was disappointed with the lack of a kid friendly experience. Skip tea time and enjoy the cafe! We ended up purchasing hello kitty sugar cookies on the way out for my daughter!

I LOVE hello kitty, and this was a dream come true for me. My dad took me for my birthday and the experience was great! The wait in line wasnβt terribly long and the line moved quickly, I think we were at the front of the line after waiting 15-20 minutes. The security outside of the cafe was very friendly as well and making jokes with people waiting in line and taking pictures for people going in and leaving. He was awesome! When we got into the cafe it was magical, everything was hello kitty and Sanrio themed. Even the bathroom! The cafe is split into three separate sections, one is the cafe area which is in the front of the cafe where you order your food and drinks. Another is on the back wall of the cafe where the merchandise is, they have a adorable selection of stuffed animals of all different Sanrio characters. They had magnets, lanyards, keychains and so much more! What I really liked about the merchandise area is how they displayed the clothes for sale on a clothing rack so you could see the front and back of all the shirts and sweaters. The checkout for the merchandise is in the opposite corner of where the cafe is, which is nice that itβs separate and not crowding all t

Super cute. Expensive, but it's downtown Chicago. The wait to get in wasn't that bad, line was wrapped around building but only took about 25 minutes. Staff was fast and friendly. So many delicious things. The teas were also yummy.
